“While training at the Québec Circus School, [Valérie Inertie] explored various techniques, including aerial silk, German Wheel, monocycling and acrobatics. She also met Daniel Cyr, inventor of the Cyr Wheel, who gave her advice on building her own wheel and generously shared his expertise with her. She also developed her dance and theatre talents, all of which helped her refine her physical vocabulary and create her own acts”

In 2005, Valerie Intertie took her first steps on the world stage. As the first female Cyr Wheel soloist, she quickly stood out as an icon in the field. She began building her reputation in Germany variety show circuit, presenting her act on cruise ships and in private or corporate events. Cirque du Soleil is only one of the major companies she worked with and her performances were applauded in over 30 countries. In 2011, she was invited to present her Cyr Wheel act at the 35th Monte Carlo international circus festival and was awarded the Silver Clown, the Audience award, the SBM award and the Monte Carlo Friends of Circus award. Soon after she won the Star of the Match at Impro Cirque in Buenos Aires and the Silver Buffoon award at the Great Moscow State Circus. Since, she has presented her act in renowned circuses, such as Amsterdam’s Koninklijk Theater Carré, Switzerland’s Knie Cirque National and Stuttgart’s Weltweihnachtscircus and her journey continues.

Valérie Inertie – Structured-improvisation, choreographed and interpret by Canadian cyr-wheel artiste Valerie Inertie, in collaboration with Stephan Braun, German composer and Cello player. Fascinating what art can be when two amazing artists meet! And a good whip out from September 2009 practice.

Published on Jun 8, 2013 www.inertie.ca
